{"id":18,"date":"2008-05-04T15:57:39","date_gmt":"2008-05-04T15:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mihosoft.eu\/?p=18"},"modified":"2013-02-07T22:57:03","modified_gmt":"2013-02-07T21:57:03","slug":"vrl-introduction-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mihosoft.eu\/?p=18","title":{"rendered":"VRL &#8211; Introduction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><h2>Introduction<\/h2><p>VRL is a flexible Swing based library for automatic and interactive object visualization.<\/p><h3>Why VRL?<\/h3><p>The <b>Simulation in Technology Center of Prof. Wittum<\/b> needs a platform independent client for their simulation system <a href=\"http:\/\/gcsc.uni-frankfurt.de\/simulation-and-modelling\" mce_href=\"http:\/\/gcsc.uni-frankfurt.de\/simulation-and-modelling\" title=\"UG\">UG<\/a> that provides an interactive graphical user interface as extension to the already existing shell environment.<\/p><p>The aims of VRL are: <\/p><ul><li>flexibility and platform independence <\/li><li>automated and interactive visualization of Java objects <\/li><li>visual programming interface <\/li><\/ul><h3>Development status<\/h3><p>In its current state VRL is able to generate user interfaces from any local Java object. Some simple scenarios such as solving a two body problem or a 3D function plotter will demonstrate the possibilities of VRL in it&#8217;s current state. As the XML based network interface for UG by Leo Reich is still in development, only future version will have UG support. <\/p><p>That is, the current version is not usable for writing UG frontends yet. It is more a kind of design study.
