SonoAir finally supports macOS High Sierra!

February 3, 2018 | Filed under: Featured, Java, JavaFX, Sonos and tagged with: Java, JavaFX, SonoAir, Sonos

Finally, SonoAir supports macOS High Sierra!

A big thanks for all the donations. You make this project possible! This is awesome!

Download SonoAir: 1.0 Beta 7

SonoAir now uses AirConnect instead of airsonos. File size went down quite a lot! We don’t need to ship node.js anymore which is very heavyweight and unnecessarily complex when using nmp packages with all their dependencies.

Enjoy 1.0 Beta 7 🙂

    Hi!

Like earlier versions it’s not working on my Mac. The app always stays in the status “Searching Devices” and nothing happens. I checked debugging mode but can’t find the file. Using Mac OS 10.12.6

    Regards, Oli

I think you have to move the divider from the bottom of the window. Just drag it up as far as possible to see the log window.

For me the app works great. Thanks 🙂

OK, the found the log file. And four the first time the app works. Only in the main window there are no devices listed, just in the log file: “-> device found (xy). The header of the apps stays in “searching devices…” In iTunes I can select them now. Unfortunately sound is not stable, get’s cut of and dies once in a while. I’ll keep testing it

Hey, I’d love this to work too it would be much more versatile… but, for now, if you have a Sonos Sound Bar just get yourself an apple TV, even an old one. Play anything you want on your Mac, send the audio via airplay to your TV. Open Sonos, select the sound bar, open group add whatever rooms you want and your done.

I’ve got the same problem. I’ve checked that wifi is activated on my iMac and swapped over the networks it’s connected to (I have 3). But I just keep getting the (searching devices) message.

      What am I doing wrong?

@Bella: playing from iTunes didn’t work for me as well. But doing a speaker selection via [Alt]+Left-Click on the speaker symbol in the macOS menubar works great for me.

Question: can I get rid of the delay?

Die heisst dort nicht unbedingt Sonos, bei mir wird der Lautsprecher z.B. als “Wohnzimmer+” angezeigt. Vermutlich hatte ich bei der Installationsorgie irgendwo “Wohnzimmer” eingegeben.

thanks for your continued efforts! its a great app (when it works…)

I am able to use it with os 10.13 – it scans and finds my sonos, but it then cuts out after about a minute or 2…I have to relaunch the application to get it working again…any ideas?

Fabulous thank you. Version 6 still worked for me on High Sierra, the speakers were disoverable in IOS even though they were not there in the volume control. This version is quicker to start a stream, smaller footprint and working fine – a fresh donation is on its way to you today!

I have a mac laptop and am running the latest mac os IHigh Sierra 10.13.5). I used SonosAir at a friend’s house who has only Sonos speakers, and it worked perfectly. In my house I have my Sonos speakers and Sonos Connect and Connect:Amp connected through a Sonos Boost, and it doesn’t work. This is the debug message:

    DEBUG: retryCounter: 5 SonoAir v1.0 (BETA 7.0)

    Any advice?

Hello everybody, I just downloaded it and it works kinda fine for most of the app (VLC, Itunes, chromes and basic sounds of the system). The only problem I observe (except for some instability with few crashes) it’s the sound delay. Itunes and VLC sounds are both delayed of about 3500-4000 ms. When is just about music it doesn’t really matter, but movies are playing out of synch, which is a bit annoying.

Thanks anyway, it’s a great app and a wonderful tool to make the best out of SONOS system.

I have Beta v7.0 and Sonoair can find my speakers fine. When I am playing something, things will work fine for anywhere from 2-15 minutes. Eventually the sound cuts out and the speakers don’t show as available on my device. I then have to quit and reopen Sonoair to repeat this process all over again. Any ideas?
