O2 Surfstick Speed
Setting correct device mode:
Do you own a Surfstick Speed from O2 and wonder why it only mounts the image containing the windows drivers instead of being detected as modem? The problem is that you first have to switch the device mode to use it as modem. While openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 8 does that automatically on openSUSE 11.1 it is necessary to install the package hsolinkcontrol.
Usage:
To use the Surfstick Speed on openSUSE < 11.2 the command line program wvdial works very well. On openSUSE 11.2 the networkmanager is a good alternative.1. wvdial:
To use the stick with wvdial it is necessary to add a section to the wvdial config file (/etc/wvdial.conf):[surfstick] Init2 = ATZ Init3 = ATE0V1&D2&C1S0=0+IFC=2,2 Init5 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","surfo2"; Modem Type = Analog Modem Baud = 460800 Stupid Mode = 1 Dial Command = ATDT Carrier Check = no Modem = /dev/ttyHS3 ISDN = 0 Phone = 99***1# Password = o2 Username = o2
sudo wvdial surfstick
